The Courage Collection was created as a reminder that it takes great courage to stand up in life and be heard, to be brave during the bad times and to support each other during the good and the bad. I wanted to celebrate this collection by naming each unique piece after courageous women who changed the course of history with their bravery, their minds, their care and humanity.

This piece celebrates Nellie Bly, Nellie was the most famous American woman reporter of the 19th century. Her investigation of conditions at an insane asylum sparked outrage, legal action, and improvements of the treatment of the mentally ill. In  1887, under the name Nellie Brown, she had herself committed to an asylum in New York for ten days, so she could expose the horrible conditions there. Her report on the asylum, her sheer tenacity, bravery and later reports, inspired change in treatment as well as helping to pave the way for women in journalism. Her trip around the world in 72 days brought her even further fame. Definitely a woman to be celebrated by this beautiful piece of jewellery from my Courage Collection.
